How do I file for State unemployment benefits?

The State of California’s Employment Development Department Unemployment Insurance Program provides weekly unemployment insurance payments for workers who have lost their job through no fault of their own. Eligibility for benefits requires that the claimant is able to work, is actively seeking work, and is willing to accept a suitable offer of employment.

To file for unemployment insurance benefits contact the Unemployment Insurance Program at (800) 300-5616 or click here to access the Employment Development Department .

Job seekers can access the Unemployment Insurance office from the One-Stop Center’s direct telephone line to the Employment Development Department or use the internet to access their webpage. For additional information, please contact Gardena One-Stop at (310) 538-7070 or visit our office at 16801 South Western Avenue in Gardena. To access the TTY Line, call (310) 327-3596.
