How do I apply to be a police officer?

The Gardena Police Department has a variety of skilled positions that provide for the City’s public safety. If you are interested in becoming a Police Officer for the City of Gardena, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: be at least twenty-one years old at time of appointment, possess a high school diploma or a GED, possess and maintain a California driver’s license, and have a good driving record. There is no minimum or maximum requirement for height and weight. You must be in good health, be of good character and reputation, and must never have been convicted of a felony or serious misdemeanor. Applicants who meet this criteria must also pass a series of tests that may include: a written examination, physical agility test, oral interview, background investigation, polygraph test, a medical examination including a drug screening, and a psychological profile.
