A dance permit is required in order to hold a dance at any fraternal hall or public assembly place. The City does not require a dance permit for affairs held at a private residence. If you are planning to rent any of the following public facilities to hold a dance, you will need a dance permit and licensed security guards for the event, for example: the Elks Lodge, VFW, Knights of Columbus, AmVets, or Nader’s Barn. City staff will provide a list of licensed security guards when you apply for the permit.
The dance permit application is available on the City’s website and can be accessed by clicking here. The Permits and Licenses Office is located in Room 101 at City Hall, 1700 West 162nd Street in Gardena. The office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays. To speak with a staff member, please call (310) 217-6191.
