Garbage and Recycling Collections Rules (Do's and Dont's)

  • Gray bin must be placed on the curb after 6 p.m. the night before pickup.
  • Place gray and blue bins out with the opening of the lid facing the street.
  • Bag garbage to prevent spillage.
  • Do not overfill bin or place extra garbage on the side or on top of the container. The lid of the container must be closed completely. A $4.50 fee will be charged if a solid waste driver has to pick up an overfilled gray bin or extra trash placed on top or next to the bin.
  • Do not place gray and blue bin too close to each other. Bins must be at least three feet apart.
  • Both bins must be at least five feet from vehicles, utility poles, mail boxes or other obstructions.
  • Make sure the container lid is completely closed. A $4.50 fee will be charged if a solid waste driver has to pick up an overfilled bin or extra trash.
  • Do not place yard waste in the gray container, unless it’s bagged.
  • Do not place televisions, computers, batteries or oil in the garbage bin or recycling bin.
  • Do not place dirt, rocks, concrete, asphalt or other construction debris in the gray or blue bins.
  • Place only recyclables in the blue bin and do not bag them.
  • Solid waste drivers will not empty improperly placed containers or wait for customers to bring out their bins on their collection day.
